READ Carson Colts!

Students & Staff Meet & Greet Guest Speaker and Young Adult Literature Author,

Leslie Hauser

Join us in the Carson Complex Library for a special visit with

Ms. Hauser on

Tuesday, November 14.

Ms. Hauser will be with us from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm in the library.

Teachers who have reserved and confirmed their class time slots will enjoy a mini-writing workshop and book signing of her latest novel, Chasing Eveline.

Chasing Eveline received a score of 4.9 out of 5.0 on Amazon! The novel is about sixteen-year-old Ivy Higgins, who is the only student at Carmel Heights High School that listens to cassettes. And her binder is the only one decorated with album artwork by 80s band Chasing Eveline. Despite being broken-up since 1989, this rock band out of Ireland means everything to Ivy. They’re a reminder of her mom, who abandoned Ivy and her dad two years ago. Now the music of her mom’s favorite band is the only connection she has left. Even though Ivy wavers between anger and a yearning to reconnect, she’s one-hundred percent certain she’s not ready to lose her mom forever.

Ms. Hauser will also be available in the library during Nutrition and Lunch. Please stop by to purchase your copy of Chasing Eveline and have your book personally autographed!

A special thanks to our very own, Ms. DeVercelly for her love of reading and dedication to Carson Colts. Without her partnership, this event would not have been possible!

Happy Reading!

Bending Toward the Sun

A Mother and Daughter Memoir

By Leslie Gilbert-Lurie

A miraculous lesson in courage and recovery, Bending Toward the Sun tells the story of a unique family bond forged in the wake of brutal terror. Weaving together the voices of three generations of women, Leslie Gilbert-Lurie and her mother, Rita Lurie, provide powerful—and inspiring—evidence of the resilience of the human spirit, relevant to every culture in every corner of the world. By turns unimaginably devastating and incredibly uplifting, this firsthand account of survival and psychological healing offers a strong, poignant message of hope in our own uncertain times
