Exciting news to share- Carson High School Library has received permission to offer thousands of eBooks for free to all students on the Carson Complex, AEE, and AMA campus.
Open eBooks is an app containing thousands of popular and award-winning titles that are free to download onto your Android or Apple phones or tablets. These eBooks can be read without checkouts, holds, or late fees anywhere you go. Students can access these eBooks, which include some of the most popular works of the present and past, covering genres such as action/adventure, biographies, mysteries, historical fiction, and so much more!
The goal of Open eBooks and the Carson High School Library is to encourage a love for reading which will serve as a gateway for more learning-- whether at school, at libraries, or at home, students will have a full library at their fingertips. So, come into the library tomorrow and ask Mrs. Bollinger for your own free access code and receive instructions for using this program immediately. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to read thousands of eBooks for free!
We have the honor and privilege of welcoming Holocaust survivor, Rita and her daughter, Leslie to our Carson High School Library on Friday, March 24 from 11:00am-12:30pm.
Leslie and Rita will discuss details of their book, Bending Toward the Sun as well as answer questions from the audience. Additionally, they will generously donate 30 copies of their book to our library.
All teachers who are interested in bringing their classes or wish to send down a few students during this time period, please contact Mrs. Bollinger as soon as possible as seating is limited in the library. A final confirmation will be sent to teachers by Friday, March 10 to confirm the total seats you will be given at this event.
Bending Toward the Sun
A Mother and Daughter Memoir
A miraculous lesson in courage and recovery, Bending Toward the Sun tells the story of a unique family bond forged in the wake of brutal terror. Weaving together the voices of three generations of women, Leslie Gilbert-Lurie and her mother, Rita Lurie, provide powerful—and inspiring—evidence of the resilience of the human spirit, relevant to every culture in every corner of the world. By turns unimaginably devastating and incredibly uplifting, this firsthand account of survival and psychological healing offers a strong, poignant message of hope in our own uncertain times
