Songs Dance is a Competitive Dance team who takes part in various competitions throughout the duration of the school year. Songs holds auditions in mid-May that take place at the J. Silva Dance Academy. In order to qualify for auditions the candidate must uphold a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher. After making the team, the members undergo a series of classes based in technique throughout the summer in order to prepare for the competition season. Before summer ends, Songs learns a routine to perform at the school's annual school wide pep rally. By October, the girls are ready to participate in the Halloween performance and are notorious for putting on a "horrific" show. Following this performance, the girls begin to learn their competition routine and compete for the first time in early December. Each year Songs prepare for not only local Sharp competitions, but for their three major ones as well: Regional (in Las Vegas), State (in Davis, CA), and Nationals (at the Anaheim Convention Center). The Competition season closes out by the end of April and the cycle begins again in May.
